Description:
Greyish with dark cheek patches; grey head, brown mantle and wings; short brown tail with white outer tail feathers; throat white, breast and belly greyer; flanks brownish. Recently split Small or Desert Lesser Whitethroat is smaller and paler. Often in loose groups. Horizontal carriage. Confident direct flight. Rather shy.
Habitat:
Inhabits open woodland and scrub, feeding on insects and nectar, usually high in trees but also in bushes.
Distribution:
Common winter visitor to Pakistan and western peninsular and northern India south to north Tamil Nadu and northern Sri Lanka. Absent or rare from most of eastern and northeastern India and Bangladesh.

Call Description:
Noisy. A clicking tek. Also churrs. Song is a flourished rattle.
